The Elephant In The Corner
Integrative Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Edinburgh, Scotland
Hello!
My name is Lovisa and I am an adopted Vietnamese who grew up in both Botswana and Sweden, and who now calls Scotland my home. My diverse background and inquisitive nature have fostered a deep respect for different cultures and a genuine belief in the importance of mental wellbeing.
I have a strong passion for helping others live fulfilling lives, which drove me to study psychology. During this time, I immersed myself in understanding the complexities of the human mind and behaviour. Additionally, I volunteered at a listening service, an experience that reinforced my belief in the importance of providing individuals with a safe, non-judgemental space to express their feelings. Keen to further develop my knowledge and practical skills in assisting individuals uncover their full potential, I explored various counselling and therapeutic methods.
Alongside my studies, I have been deeply involved in supporting vulnerable individuals, many who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and mental health challenges, to lead fulfilling lives. This meaningful work remains an ongoing commitment.
I have gained deep insights into the multifaceted nature of human experiences and evidence-based tools and techniques to guide and support individuals towards achieving greater personal growth.
My therapeutic philosophy centres around fostering a warm and collaborative environment, ensuring individuals feel deeply heard, understood and supported.
I approach our sessions with unwavering empathy and curiosity, creating a non-judgemental space that encourages openness and honesty.
I bring patience to our work, recognising that personal growth unfolds at its own pace.
The space I offer is confidential and one of acceptance celebrating and respecting the diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, and identities.
